i thought it would be fun to have a page capturing my current ongoings and interests, but then i saw someone had already coined the idea of a 'now' page, which i'll find credit for soon.

reading
- Your Brain is (Almost) Perfect: How We Make Decisions by Read Montague
- i was actually supposed to read this book for a class back in college but never did. i'm glad i don't throw things away quickly as this is immensely more fascinating now that i'm accessing it at this point in my life.
- The Days of Abandonment by Elena Ferrante (a pseudonym; no one knows who Elena truly is)
- despite never having finished the neopolitan1 novels, i have read many writings from this author, and this one is my favourite thus far. this rivals (and to me surpasses) dostoevsky's psychological characterisations in his writing. after her husband leaves her for a much younger woman (a former nanny, nonetheless!), olga struggles with coming to grips with the reality of the situation, her aging mind and body, and her responsibilities towards her children. i try not to read too much of it because it makes me fear i might go crazy, too.
- In the Margins: On the Pleasures of Reading and Writing by Elena Ferrante
- i actually started this last year but the first essay gave me so much to think about and process (i put it in my journal/log) that i haven't revisited this book in a while.
- Violeta Among the Stars (Portuguese: Os Meus Sentimentos) by Dulce Maria Cardoso
- the writing in this blows me away because it is one continuous thought as the narrator recounts her life after a car accident during a rainy night (or was it day?)

In a interview with Artforum magazine, which I shall not be linking here because screw AF, Torrey Peters (I still haven't read Detransition, Baby) makes this comment about the preferred order of books to read in the series, which I find fascinating, and may do that when I choose to go through my first round of reading.
