notebook + planners (unfun)
- jibun techo biz diary
- functional and flexible work planner; even has gantt charts, which i never used lol
- margin-style notebooks (1 in margin from the left)
- best way to take notes for work meetings or 1:1 since using the left column as the header and taking notes on the right side of the margin leaves room to create follow-up items or checklists related to the topic... trust me on this one...
notebook + planners (fun)
- hobonichi 5-year
- to collect evidence to remember my life (i do statistics, after all... how can i not make decisions without data! we all use data: emotional, numerical, etc)
- hobonichi weeks
- to record appointments, short daily gratitudes, and to-do lists on a weekly view
- midori hibino
- to record appointments and to-do lists on a daily view; to track meals; to record places visited and items loved now that i am embarrassed to have had a yelp phase; to doodle, collage, make some pages ugly to reject perfectionist conditioning and remind self of the use of the planner as a tool and not some aesthetic validation metric
- midori md a5 - grid block
- to collect information in a pseudo-organised way where the division of the pages in blocks helps my ADHD brain sort information because i no longer have to worry about making uneven divisions with lists and then running out of room
- midori md a5 - frame
- to house creative writing (prose, poetry), creative journaling (similar vein to the amelia notebooks -- iykyk), drawings and doodles in pen, coloured pencil, watercolours, washi tapes, whatever!
- i love this lab-styled notebook, especially considering that, in college, a friend of mine and i collaborated on a google document titled 'lab data' in which we wrote angsty poems (not to each other, more like a club, in retrospect)
- stalogy a5
- started out as a daily page, some tarot readings, maybe considering having the writing club exercises in that book instead
- leuchtturm a5 (hardcover) (2)
- one is the colour of sand and started out as a 2020 bullet journal. obviously it's cursed. i don't want to remove the pages from there but it's cursed since i have not found a use for this.
- the other one is a forest green that houses angsty journal entries, tarot readings, lists of creative things i want to do, post-its that i have glued to keep in one place, some cards and letters that friends have written to me, but currently... don't know what to do with you
- midori md b5 (finally, a new book size!)
- this one is like 30 pages and is a good on-the-go one. one is for random meeting notes for life (like financial related calls or tax stuff that is confusing? yeah, that.)
- one is for these financial webinars we get through work from time-to-time because that information absolutely needs to live in a small, concentrated, and easily memorable location
pens (and paper/utility combinations) aka o-pen-ions?
- pilot g2 0.38 or 0.5mm is a work/planner pen but 0.7mm is an angsty journal writing pen
- ticonderoga black pencils wear down quickly or i have forgotten how to use wooden pencils efficiently
- muji pens are a good basic but sometimes you need a little fun and pizzazz
- sarasa
- quick dry is very good for lefty friends (i am not a lefty but i did perform various smudge tests)
- clip 0.5 is one that i like to use now
- mark on 0.5 is one i neglect but it does do the trick
- pentel energel ... needlepoint in general ... i'm liking it and will get a 0.3 mm option soon maybe but it doesn't hold up well to highlighters
- kaweco sport in black pearl (F nib)
- sometimes i like it, sometimes i find it too small and uncomfortable to use
vinyl
- teac tn-300 with an ortofon concorde mix cartridge and micca pb42x bookshelf speakers (would be interested in receiving any speaker upgrade recommendations in case any music enthusiasts come across this page)
- it was in 2024 that i learned about this cartridge after i decided to treat myself by hiring a cleaner for my apartment to start the year off right, only to learn that they cleaned my record player (still painful to type) and broke my needle, which was the grado green3 i had changed about 3.5 years ago, which was one of the most annoying fucking thing i have ever done, from connecting those tiny wires, to having to download a protractor to properly align the angle of the cartridge head... true fucking pain. when the sales associate showed me the ortofon concorde line and recommended it since dj's use it and it picks up a wide range of sound, i stared at it dumbly and asked if it was compatible with the headshell, and really did not understand when she told me that it didn't need one, and yet i still bought it and took it home anyway, prepared to feel like a fool if it didn't work. so when all i had to do was remove the current headshell by easily untwisting it from the player arm and then screw in the new cartridge and do the standard releveling of the weight, and then it just fucking worked?? i was stunned. depressed at first at how much time it took to replace that first cartridge since it was my first time doing it, but then euphoric that i would never have to do any of that shit ever again -- unless, of course, ortofon stops producing it (and if that happens, please let me know so that i can stock up)
- tl;dr FUCK P-MOUNTS!!!! I WILL NEVER USE ANOTHER CARTRIDGE LINE FOR MY PLAYER!!
- i have never seen lost in translation but i keep finding myself listening to the soundtrack1 because it is truly one of the best physical-literal pieces of music i have ever heard
- i am an album-listener and it makes me a little sad when i listen to albums that have abrupt song transitions... missed opportunities here guys...
plants (did you see that one coming?)
under construction because maybe it'll be fun doing the research for the exact species name and then add the links and etc
beverages
- pocari sweat
- drip drop >> liquid iv
- whatever you choose, refrigerate it! seriously.
- throat coat tea
- honey citron tea
- juice base + plain la croix (i hear someone yelling at me about sodastreams as they read this)
footnotes
i was actually listening to the soundtrack (on spotify, sorry!) when typing this page and freaked the fuck out when i started hearing bill murray out of nowhere (again, i'm stoned) -- then i see the track is listed as 12:38, and then wikipedia tells me that this is only on the CD version and is a cover of 'more than this' by roxy music. what the hell? haven't you people ever heard of (closing the goddamn door) a hidden groove for the vinyl version? another missed opportunity↩
